LETTER TO THE WRANGLERS FAMILY FROM ROB GREELEY
Today marks the 2 year anniversary of the opening of Wranglers in Ybor City. The grand opening was a huge success and Wranglers quickly became one of the hottest nightclubs in Tampa. I believed that if Tampa was ever to have a thriving gay district, Ybor was the place to make it happen. Thankfully, many others shared that dream as well, and now Ybor celebrates several new gay clubs and businesses, making it a premier gay travel destination.
Since Wranglers closed in July of last year, I spent considerable time and energy hoping to relocate and re-open it, but as time quickly went by, it became more of a challenge, and recently I have decided to let Wranglers rest in peace.
Several people close to me ask me if I would ever open another club. The simple answer is yes, but in reality, it would probably look very different from Wranglers, because if I tried to replicate it, it would always be compared to the original, and lets face it, the original Wranglers was a beautiful club, and it would take a lot to beat it. But I am a firm believer of never say never, and since I made so many great friends in the Tampa area, it is definitely not out of the question, it just wont be in the near future.
With that said, I am going to be moving to Fort Lauderdale or Miami within the next 2 months as I have been given an incredible opportunity there.
I want to thank everyone who made Wranglers such a great place to gather, as many of us met our current mates there, and all of us have memories from Wranglers that we will take to our graves. In the next couple of days, I will attempt to place pictures from all of our theme parties on the website so everyone can take a walk down Wranglers memory lane. I appreciate your love and support, and I encourage everyone in Tampa to take advantage of the gay district in Ybor, as the gay clubs and businesses are only successful if you support them.
